Gallery of Evolution - A breathtaking Journey

The Gallery of Evolution takes you on a journey through the history of life, from the earliest life forms to a prediction of the future. On this 3.8 billion-year journey the exhibition zooms in on the mechanisms and key moments of evolution.

The story propels us quickly through time, stopping at 6 important evolutionary chapters: the Cambrian, the Devonian, the Carboniferous, the Jurassic, the Eocene and the present day. You will discover the biodiversity of each period through our huge collection of fossils and animal exhibits. This unique exhibition has almost 1000 specimens on display!

Each chapter represents a key moment in evolution, in which life takes a new path as the result of critical change. How did the skeleton come about? What tactics were developed by predators and their pray? How did the animals conquer the land? And what was it that made mammals so successful? Discover these changes for yourself in our interactive workshops.

But evolution never stops! In the future, our seventh and final chapter, you will meet six animals that could be roaming our planet in fifty million years.

Take a break from your time journey in our ‘Satellite’, an interactive zone where you can discover the mechanisms of evolution. The closing film at your journey’s end shows how every living organism carries within it the clues to the history of life.
